| What age(s) can someone become a CERT volunteer? | Anyone 18 or older can become a adult CERT volunteer and teens between the ages of 13-17 can participate with written permission from a parent or guardian. |
| Do CERT volunteers get paid? | No. All Cert team members, in Randolph County and nationwide, are volunteers that give their time to the cause. |
| Does it cost anything to apply/join CERT? | No there is no cost to apply or to join the CERT program BUT some equiptment and/or gear, you should provide yourseld. |
| What if I have concerns about my physical ability? | Anyone, no matter what their physical ability, can be a beneficial part of CERT. There is a place for everyone. |
| How often does Randolph CERT meet? | We Ususally meet twice a month for traing and meeting dates. Once on the second Saturday and again on the third Thursday of each month. Outside of those regular dates, We may occasionally have special traing or events that require additional dates. |
| Other than classroom & field training, what other training is required? | Much of the training that CERT members can receive outside of field and classroom training is by independent online study on the FEME Emergency Mangement Institute website. While much is not required, there is a few courses that are requested that CERT volunteers complete in order to be considered for team positions. |
| Who makes key decisions In Randolph CERT? | While Randolph CERT has Board Members who make votes on key and vital decisions which involve the CERT team, we try when we can to include all members in general decisions. |
| What are the main goals of the CERT program? | The main goals of the CERT program are: To do the greatest good for the greatest number of people, To maintain team readiness through ongoing training ang meetings, To gain and maintain acknowledgment and respect from area first responders and residents, To maintain professionalism in all areas within the scope of the program, and to focus great effort on maintaining safety, in ordered importance, of ourselves, team members, and all other victoms and rescuers. |
| How are Randolph CERT team member identified? | Each of our team members are issued a CERT photo Identification card that is to be worn and visible buring all events and dispatches. CERT members will also have a decal or placecard for their vehical as well. |
| When and/or how will a CERT team be activated? | CERT teams can be activated for support in emergengy or non-emergency situations by the local community, first responders, or other sponsored agencies. |
| Does CERT members respond individually to incidents? | Individual response to an incident is prohibited unless authorized by Randolph County Emergengy Mamagement or other sponsoring agencies. No CERT member is allowed to self dispatch. |
